Social Media Business Pages

Your business through social media business pages.

Why do I need a business page?

Noticing more and more as businesses are joining up with Facebook and alike and creating a page for their business.

Though what I’m seeing is that they sign up just like we all do for anything on the internet and instead of using there real names they are creating a profile page using a business name. I understand that you may not want to be found by your name but for your business instead, but the first step is where you are unfortunately falling at by using a personal profile page as a business page.

In order to have the best possible page and to be able to use it successfully you need to have a personal page to able to help create your business page. I can help you with this process and advise you on the best way to create your business page.

If you use your personal page for your business you will start to see traffic from your friends posts on your page which then can start to look unprofessional and not drive new or existing clients/customers to you again.

It is very important to keep this separate. Facebook seems to be the main social media tool that most people do this with. I understand why, currently it is the most popular and well used by people  for personal and business and is easy to use by most people.

Beyond Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn also allow you to have a business page and personal profile, though as they are not as well used by people and also have a different perception by people it doesn’t fail like Facebook does.

To help sort out the difference or to help set up and understand your business pages on all social media tools, please get in touch. Get it right for the first step so that the work applied is not lost later on.

Using your Smart Phone for Social Media.

iOS and Android phones for Personal and Social Media use.

Dealing with Issues about your smart phone.

I have noticed during my time with clients that they struggle to use their smart phones beyond what they only know or have been told to do from the shop they brought it from, they seem to pay for a device that doesn’t get used to its fullest capabilities.

Recently I have started offering a service whereby I can help you understand your smart phone. I have dealt with both types iOS and Android devices. Samsung, LG and iPhone.

Working along side the client we have restored phone back to factor settings once connected to a Laptop or PC, which allows it to back up any information that maybe on it at that time. This helps the phone to work even better for you, allowing space for new apps, music photos or any documents you may want to use on your phone.

Starting to use a phone from new is also a service I have dealt with, from the stages of inserting the sim card to understanding the operations of the phone. Providing the clients access to their personal emails and also moving froward to Social media.

I have been told many times by my clients that not using their smart phone correctly is the ‘first hurdle they fall at’, well that doesn’t need to happen anymore, I can help solve these issues and get you to understand all the capabilities of your phone.

I myself am an iPhone user and find many clients are also Apple product people, I love the intuitive design and layout of the phone and also understand how powerful it truly is when in perfect operation.

Why I’m a Mac User from being a PC user

The debate about one over the other. What are your thoughts and how well do you know your Mac or PC.

I, like most people have always used a PC, since getting to grips with modern day technology, I started to use and understanding all the Microsoft programs that go along with a PC and also the design programs that also operate on a PC, like AutoCAD, but in the last few years I have been learning all about how to use a Mac Book and other Apple devices and I have to say that there is so much to learn if you want to get the best out of your device. Using these new applications in Social media has been very easy for me, Apple devices really work well with Twitter, Facebook and alike, the ‘Apps’ from iTunes are intuitive and easy to install, having the Mac Book just enhances all of this together seemlessly I truly believe that!

“Once you go Mac you don’t go back”

From the moment you open your new Mac Book or Apple device you are in love, its Apple’s way of making it look sexy, well it certainly does do that. Depending on when you get your devices, it will feel like Christmas each time.

Beyond the appeal of the product you have to start understanding how a Mac works, the commands are different which at first can be frustrating and also not knowing how to bring up symbols that are not apparent, e.g. a  hashtag when using it for Twitter. Most people are use to using a mouse when operating a PC, with a Mac its best not too, the touch pad is all you need, but again it take some time to understand it as it works based on how many fingers you use to move around the screen.

I do miss my old PC from the ease of how I know it works from my many years of using it and still work with them when meeting with clients during our social media session. I understand its not for everyone so its important to weight up the Pros and Cons on a Mac or PC if you are trying to choose one. Major factors can be cost and it is a important one, Mac’s tend to me more expensive over a PC brand new but the advantages over the years you may have your Mac could be more cost effective in the long run.

Social Media Training.

Training is given on your devices and also the various tablets that can accompany a Mac or PC. These are the tools you need when using social media for your business needs. I also deal with clients who want to learn about their devices and happy to advise on basic IT information.

From understanding your Outlook with emails, Microsoft programs, backing up your work/content to a external hard drive or iCloud. Performing updates and software updates, cleaning up how you store information from downloading content to Data recovery if that occurs. These are some of the elements I can help with if you need my service outside of social media.

Popular Social Networking Site.

Social Media Networking Sites.

The debate begins with which social media site do you most use.?

Are you a tweeter, or facebooker or google plus newbie. Which ever you use or enjoy, they are have their merit in the social media world.

Facebook has grown from being a place to find your old friends and make new ones to creating business pages and groups. Now people are advertising things to sell to the local community which is proving really well for everyone who joins in. Overall it is a great way of discovering what people are up and to be able to enjoy multiple photos of family, holiday snaps and more. Also you are able to create events which helps co-ordinate everyone in one place, updated information so that people are in the know. All these roles of Facebook replace so many parts of my daily routine. This could be a good or bad depending on how you use it all. Find me on Facebook

Twitter has become a tool that I believe will take over from Facebook soon enough, it function in a different way completely so there is a need for both for your business, although I feel that Twitter helps to capture something in an instant which Facebook still struggles to do. More and more you see during a TV shows information about Twitter rather than Facebook and this is probably for the reason already mentioned. With so much information available on Twitter it is no wonder why people really do enjoy tweeting. Tweet with me on HRDSocialMedia

Google+ is very popular in the States and is making its way over to the UK. With Google being its parent I can see how this might be the social media of the future. Using and learning about it stages will be the best way to learn all about Google+, a very intuitive format which has an element of Facebook to it, whilst also allowing you to be able to create circles of friends which can identify friends from business contacts. I firmly things that Google+ is watch this space.

LinkedIn and Pinterest are the other two that are also popular with people, each again have their own criteria, LinkedIn is a place which allows you to add information about yourself to be seen by people who may be looking for you in a job role, or a place to find others like yourself to make a connection with. More recently you can start to create a business page, similar to the Facebook business page.

Pinterest is a creative site, its all about fantastic images showcasing your interests, this is a good way to catalogue ideas or stock if you have various elements to your business. Great way to see others who post images about their work and for you to like and connect back to your page.

These are my most used and favourite at the moment, plenty more social media sites out there to use and learn about. So if you could rank your order what order would it be.

1 – Twitter, 2- Facebook, 3- LinkedIn, 4- Google+, 5 – Pinterest.

Using Twitter on your Smartphone/Tablet

Smartphones & Tablets over a PC/Laptop on Twitter.

How do you use Twitter?

The Functions on Twitter.

Do you sit at your PC or Laptop and filter through to find out who has tweeted with you or you want to tweet with. Clicking through each of the tabs to figure all this out.

The ‘Home’ tab showing you all the tweets that have come in from all who you are following and from your followers who are retweeting their followers which then show up on your home feed.

The ‘Connect’ tabs shows you all your interactions and mentions that have come through, allowing you to pin down who is tweeting with you. You will be able to understand if they have conversed with you, retweeted or favourited your tweet.

The ‘Discover’ tab is what is breaking on twitter, a collection of information from people who are talking about the same thing as you. This can lead to something you are interested in to potential trend depending on how much interaction it has.

The ‘Me’ tab is the front page of your twitter profile, it shows you your profile information, the combinations of tweets and retweets you may have sent out, images that you may have attached to your tweets and also a suggestion of who to follow and what is currently trending.

Ladies

Using Twitter on your Smartphone or Tablet.

All this is valuable information when using your PC or Laptop but I find that using a smartphone or tablet can provide you with even more functions that you are not able to from a static machine.

One of the best functions I tend to use often is to ‘Quote’ a tweet, the option comes up when you want to retweet something you like, but ‘Quoting’ has become a common usage for me as it allows you to keep a conversation to grow, although you will start to lose characters depending on how long the tweet it.

I find that when Im conducting Petworthhour on tuesday evenings at 8pm, I need to use the ‘Quote’, reason being if someone has tweeting and not use the hash tag Petworthour as one word, then I am able to change this and reply back to them to keep the conversation going.

Many times you can see a tweet that has not reached to people correctly and using this functions allows you to amend this which then will reach the person who it was attended for.

The double tapping of the ‘Home’ button is also a fantastic function as if you are not on your twitter feed 24/7 then you will have a lot of swishing to do to get back to the top of the most recent tweet, double tapping takes away the laborious task of doing this. Once to the top you can scroll back down to see what you may have missed, but its better that way then they trying to scroll upwards.

The last great function when you using a smart phone or tablet has to be, switching between accounts, if you have a personal and business account or if you are in charge of looking after more than one account, the switching between them all is clean and easy.  If you used a PC/Laptop you would have to log out each time and then log back in and tweet away, when wanting to do something in an instant I would find using a PC really annoying and prefer the smartphone/tablet option.

Would this encourage you to use your smartphone or tablet over your PC, maybe, especially if you want to capture something in an instant, that is the beauty of it, take a pic and tweet it all in one motion. The sign of the times really!.
